A visit from Sophia

We were talking about how we are sort of the same, but different. We started talking about how Sophia describes her travels as Gallivanting, and I describe mine as Tromping. We thought it would be best to make a video of the main difference between us.

Sophia was here for about 12 days. The first weekend, I took Friday off and we went to Hiroshima. During the week, I worked and she went to Osaka and Kyoto. The next weekend, we went to Mt. Fuji and Tokyo. It was really good to see her and to show her around a bit.

I packed last night. I sent half of my stuff home, half to China, half to the trash, and I'll have some with me for the traveling with Cheney. I know that's not good math, but packing sucks.

That's really it. 6 more days in Japan. Fast year.

Home soon!

27 years, 27 days!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE MAN!!

Me, I'm 27 now. I have 27 days left in Japan. I'm doing my best to make the most of it, but at the same time, I'm ready to go. I'm stressed out/excited about my up coming Travels with Princess Cheney. I'm stressed out/excited about my week at home on the farm. I'm stressed out/nervous/scared/a little excited about China, Round II. All that combined makes me just want to go and get started. I'm ready.

My friend, Maiko, had a birthday on June 16th, so we celebrated our days together this past weekend. We got bullet train tickets for Sophia and me to go to Hiroshima first. Then we went to Odaiba, a man made island in Tokyo for the Wax Museum. Then we went to the beach and had dinner. It was a great day.

Sophia is coming next week! I'm taking Friday the 4th off and we're going to Hiroshima. I'm really excited about that, and I hope that being there will take some of the sting out of missing the Dalsimers on the farm for the Fourth.

That's really it. That's what's been going on in my life.

Love to all and see you soon!

52 Days

Hey! Happy June! Happy Anniversary to Mom and Dad. 29 years. That's a lot.

May was good. It's getting hot here, and humid. Real humid. My hair is just giant. I don't think anything special really happened this month. Just normal life. It's good.

Yesterday, I went to Kamakura and Enoshima. They are about an hour/hour and a half out of Tokyo and have both been on my list of things to see since I got here. Kamakura has shrines, temples, and a giant Buddha. Enoshima is an island. It was a good day. I went with Maiko, a language exchange partner. Her English has improved a lot and my Japanese is getting better. Here are some pictures of the weekend.

Kamakura is famous for Hydrangeas, but we were a bit early for the big festivals and such.

Buddha: we went inside him too. It was real humid in there.

Happy June!

I want to go to the beach: Watashiwa Umi ni ikitaii

Tree Dragon

At the beach. Sort of. It was rocks, not sand. Although there was a sand part.
This movie is not great, but I've never seen bamboo that bug before. Don't worry about sound, it's not me, its just background conversations.
